Building Faith, Families and Friends

Building Friends

The church sometimes suffers from mindsets and attitudes that drive folks away. I realize that a local church and a community bar are not the same thing. But I would submit to you that a congregation gets it wrong if they project an attitude that certain people need not attend. Our vision is “… building faith, building families and building friends.”

Building Families

This week's message is called “Building Families” and I begin it with an extremely important point and a very personal story. My point is this: before God set in order the church as a redemptive place for hope and salvation he put in place the most powerful unit on the whole planet – the family. Adam and Eve and their children came before Abraham, Moses, Simon Peter and the Apostle Paul. God began his work on this earth through the family, not the church. The family remains God’s primary agent of redemption, hope, guidance and salvation.

Building Faith

“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things.” Philippians 3: 13-14

Reviewing our church history going all the way back 24 years or just in the year 2009 is simply a testimony of God’s faithfulness. We acknowledge it as a part of our history and recognition of the hard work and sacrifice folks have made along the way. And yet, beginning today, our focus is on the present task before us and the future that God has promised us.
